2012 Dreissena Mussel Early Detection Monitoring Methods and Quality Assurance Workshops
Two consecutive workshops will be held from February 7-10, 2012 at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. The first two-day workshop will focus on best analytical practices and the analysis of a recently available data set derived from a community-wide methods comparison study involving cross polarized light microscopy, image flow cytometry, and polymerase chain reaction-based detection assays. The second two-day workshop will focus on the design of a laboratory certification program currently being considered by Western Regional Panel on Aquatic Nuisance Species. (More Information)

2009 Early Detection of Dreissena Mussels in the West
A workshop was held 21-22 January 2009 in Denver. This 1.5 day meeting immediately preceded a national-level 100th Meridian Initiative meeting (22-23 January) where a comprehensive regional monitoring plan for 2009 was initiated. The ultimate goal for workshop participants was to provide vetted recommendations to the 100th Meridian Initiative regarding the early detection and monitoring of the dreissenid invasion of western waters.
